The Conference “Strengthening Local Economic Development System in Georgia” is organized within the formwork of the project “Backstopping mandate for strengthening of National Core Group on LED in Georgia” financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia and organization “Mezopartner” (Germany) in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The Conference takes part under the mandate of the National Core Group on LED and aims at dissemination of experience gained by the group during implementation of the project. Since June 2022, the project promotes bottom-up approach in LED in Georgia. To meet aforementioned purposes the project implemented specific initiatives in the city of Poti and municipalities of Senaki and Zugdidi on promotion of participatory appraisal of competitive advantages and public private dialogue. 

The Forum on “Strengthening the LED System Journey in Georgia”, organized by the NCG, aims to continue this path of learning based on the experiences gained so far. The forum has three concrete objectives: Sharing NCG’s experiences at the national and local level for strengthening the LED system; Providing a platform for communication between national and local decision makers, utilizing creative communication and facilitation methodologies; Collaboratively identifying ways forward for local and national stakeholders, as well as the NCG, to promote concrete initiatives that strengthen local-national LED system synergies.

The Conference will be attended by representatives of Georgian government, municipalities, local business, academia and international organizations.
